What is Sexual Health?

Being sexually healthy means being in a state of physical, emotional, mental and social well-being in relation to your sexuality. This definition goes beyond the commonly held belief that sexual health is merely ‘the absence of disease, dysfunction or infirmity’. Sexual health requires a positive and respectful approach to sexuality and sexual relationships, and an appreciation of the importance of having pleasurable and safe sexual experiences.

HK Sexual Health Centre

At the HK Sexual Health Centre, we aim to provide a comprehensive and holistic approach to managing sexual health problems. There are still many stigmas and taboos related to sexual health problems, and therefore a lot of people feel embarrassed talking about their problems with health care professionals. At the HKSHC, we aim to provide an environment that is comfortable, respects privacy and facilitates open communication.

We understand that sexual problems are often multi-factorial and are influenced by many factors including an individual’s unique experiences of relationships, their upbringing and their ethnic and cultural background.

Our therapists are multi-cultural and respectful of diversity having received their training in North America, Europe, Australia, Asia and locally in Hong Kong. This enables them to be better able to understand our client’s personal needs. All the staff at our Centre have specialized experience in dealing with different kinds of sexual problems. We also provide counselling services in various languages including English, Cantonese, Mandarin, Spanish, French and German.

We aim to help clients resolve their sexual problems and improve their sexual health. Often this means focusing on successfully re-establishing sexual - intercourse, restoring intimacy and enhancing communication with their partner.
